A Belle Isle police officer has resigned after Volusia County deputies arrested him in DeBary on charges of driving under the influence, refusing to submit to sobriety tests, open container violations and speeding. Bodycam footage shared by the VCSO shows a shirtless Ivar Ruiz refusing to continue a sobriety test. The deputy warns Ruiz that he would have to make a determination of his sobriety based on what he's already seen. Belle Isle police officer resigns following arrest on DUI charge

A Belle Isle police officer has resigned from the force following his arrest on charges related to driving while under the influence, according to authorities. This is the second arrest for Officer Ivar Ruiz in just over two years. Ruiz, 33, faces charges of DUI of alcohol or drugs, and refusal to submit to DUI testing. A Belle Isle police officer will not be fired after being arrested on suspicion of DUI. In March, a Volusia County sheriff's deputy found Officer Ivar Ruiz passed out in his truck on a median on State Road 44. Ruiz had his foot on the brake with the engine running.
