Bau Tran, a police officer with the city of Arlington, Texas, is currently facing up to two years in state jail for criminally negligent homicide after killing a motorist who was trying to flee a traffic stop. A jury of his peers will decide if Tran should spend time behind bars for reaching into O'Shae Terry's window and shooting him four times after the man was initially pulled over for an expired registration. Cop Granted Immunity After Video Showed Him Jump onto Car, Kill Unarmed Driver Over Expired Sticker

O’Shae Terry and his friend were stopped in September 2018 by Arlington police officer Julie Herlihy because the temporary tag on Terry’s vehicle had expired. Officer Bau Tran would also respond to the stop, and ten minutes later, he would shoot and kill Terry. Now, Tran is being granted qualified immunity by the Fifth Circuit Appeals Court because jumping onto a moving car and killing the driver is “reasonable.” The incident happened on September 1, 2018 in broad daylight.
