An Illinois state trooper shot and killed his wife before killing himself earlier this week in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities say. According to the Illinois State Police, 30-year-old ISP Trooper Antonio Alvarez and 31-year-old Amanda Alvarez were found dead inside of a “non-department issued” car just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The vehicle was just shy of the Indiana state line. ISP trooper among 2 found dead on Far South Side

A trooper with the Illinois State Police was among two people found shot to death Monday afternoon in a car on the Far South Side. The trooper, later identified at Antonio Alvarez, 30, was found dead with a gunshot to his head near the intersection of East 110th Street and Avenue E. A 31-year-old woman, later identified as Amanda Alvarez, was found dead in the car, too. She was also shot in the head, according to Chicago police. Police said a weapon was recovered and authorities are treating it as a death investigation. No suspects are being sought.

The deaths of an Illinois State trooper and his wife, whose bodies were found in a parked car Monday in Chicago's East Side neighborhood, have been ruled a murder-suicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner said Antonio Alvarez, 30, died by suicide and his wife Amanda Alvarez, 31, died by homicide. Both had gunshot wounds to the head.
