When law enforcement background investigators disclosed that because of the shortage of recruits available they where forced to accept recruits with criminal records essentially lowering the bar. Add into the scenario qualified immunity and we have given criminals a free pass without consequences to commit their crimes. Don’t get me wrong there are good police officers, unfortunately for them they are forced to just survive in their job and make it to retirement and get out. Which leaves us with the undesirables. Brace yourself - it is going to get worse. What honest and good person would want to associate themselves with this situation. If the goal is to improve the quality of our police departments take away qualified immunity and raise the bar back up for our recruits. God help us !
