It is an expected outcome to the ever worsening epidemic of police violence.

In Political Science 101 fifty years ago, we would have called this a question of legitimacy. With their increasingly violent attacks on the citizens that they are supposed to serve, that part of our government is losing their legitimacy to remain in power.

One bozo in the article whines about "movements critical of law enforcement — such as those aimed at defunding police", but those movements are clear indications of law enforcement's loss of legitimacy among the population.

At least 10 law enforcement officers were shot or killed — most around major U.S. cities — in about a week, in what criminal justice reform advocates and a police union describe as a by-product of a national violent crime crisis. Two officers died after a shooting in New York City last Friday, two were shot near St. Louis on Wednesday, three were injured in Houston on Thursday and two law enforcement officers were shot in Milwaukee, each on different days.
