Jury indicts former jailer accused of grabbing inmate inappropriately, accepting bribes

A jailer who is accused of touching an inmate inappropriately and accepting a bribe has now been indicted. Korey Lanier McClure, 42, of Tenaha was recently indicted in a Shelby County court for charges of bribery and violation of civil rights of a person in custody - sexual contact, according to judicial records. The indictments state that "while he was a public servant, namely, a Shelby County Jailer, (McClure) did then and there intentionally or knowingly solicit, accept, or agree to accept a benefit" and that McClure intentionally engaged "in sexual contact with (the inmate) ... who was in custody ...

A former Shelby County jailer has been indicted on charges tied to prostitution, bribery and official oppression, according to court records filed earlier in August. Korey Lanier McClure, 43, of Tenaha was charged with the offenses by a Shelby County Grand Jury during the July term of the 123rd District Court. The bribery charge is a second degree felonly while the official oppression and abuse charges are Class A misdemeanors.
