Survey Confirms Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Is Still Home To Dangerous Gangs, Has No Solid Plan To Eliminate Them

30 September 2021

The Los Angeles Police Department has spent years compiling a "gang database." The term "compile" is used loosely, because the LAPD decides people are gang members just because they know gang members, or are related to them, or live in the same buildings, or work near them, or pass through gang-controlled neighborhoods, or go to school with gang members, or just (as non-gang people are wont to do) wear clothes, shoes, and hats. It's ridiculous. And when that's not "inclusive" enough, LAPD officers fake it. LAPD officers have falsified records to justify unjustifiable stops and searches, something that ultimately resulted ...

Sheriff Villanueva demands L.A. County leaders stop using term ‘deputy gangs’

17 February 2022

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva sent a cease-and-desist letter this week to the Board of Supervisors, demanding they and others stop using the phrase “deputy gangs” to refer to secretive groups that operate within department stations. “This willful defamation of character has injured both individuals and the organization,” Villanueva wrote in the letter, dated Wednesday. “It also serves no purpose other than to fuel hatred and increase the probability of assault and negative confrontations against our people.” He challenged the supervisors to name deputies “who they can prove are ‘gang members’ ” under the law. “Using this term as ...

LA Sheriff Threatens To 'Subject' City Council To 'Defamation Law' If They Won't Stop Calling His Deputies 'Gang Members'

22 February 2022

The man presiding over a law enforcement agency filled with gangs and cliques would prefer city officials stop referring to his employees as gang members. Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has stated that there are no gangs within the Sheriff's Department, a claim he is obviously unable to back up with facts, because the facts make it clear that the LASD has been (and apparently still is) home to multiple gangs composed of deputies. There's even a Wikipedia page dedicated to the gangs infesting the Sheriff's Department. If you distrust the info on the anyone-can-edit Wikipedia page, there's also ...

Brickbat: Gang Squad

29 March 2022

In a letter to Sheriff Alex Villanueva, Los Angeles County Inspector General Max Hunstman claimed his office has compiled a list of 41 deputies who are members of "gang-like" organizations, including the Banditos and the Executioners. The letter did not name any of the deputies. In a statement, the sheriff's department said Huntsman "failed to provide any actual evidence or new information." "This is another irresponsible attempt from Mr. Huntsman to discredit the organization, through omission and misrepresentation," the statement said.

Inspector general identifies 41 sheriff's deputies who allegedly belong to gang-like groups

22 March 2022

The top watchdog for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has identified more than 40 alleged members of gang-like groups of deputies that operate out of two sheriff's stations. In a letter dated Monday, Inspector General Max Huntsman said his office has compiled a partial list that includes 11 deputies who allegedly belong to the Banditos, which operate out of the East L.A. sheriff's station, and 30 alleged Executioners from the Compton sheriff's station. He wrote that the list is based on information gleaned from investigations conducted by the Sheriff's Department. Huntsman did not name the deputies and said his ...
