A former San Antonio police officer who retired after a long history of misconduct may soon face criminal charges after he allegedly injured two family members and shot at a deputy in Sevier County, Tennessee, the KSAT 12 Defenders confirmed Thursday. Lee Rakun, 52, was identified as the suspect in the shooting, which happened on July 13 at his home in the 3000 block of Robeson Road in Wears Valley, according to Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Chief Jeff McCarter. A former San Antonio police officer was indicted Monday after allegedly shooting at deputies in Sevier County, Tennessee. Lee Rakun, 52, was identified as the suspect in the shooting, which happened on July 13 at his home in the 3000 block of Robeson Road in Wears Valley. Following the investigation, the grand jury indicted Rakun on charges of attempted first degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. The city’s most highly compensated employee last year was a police lieutenant who was fired seven times, repeatedly won back his job, agreed to retire in February 2020 and now faces charges that include aggravated kidnapping and attempted murder after he allegedly fired a gun at a sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee.
